Wines, Delicious Treats, and Live Jazz!
The new release of FORIS Claret 2002 is going to be the featured wine this week. Claret is a new Oregon designation for red blends. Here, the Cabernet Sauvignon asserts itself from the outset, contributing to the oak and cassis bouquet, a balanced acidity, and ripe tannins. Merlot's plum and Cabernet Franc's blueberries round out the fruit flavors, while Cabernet Franc also contributes a rich, smoky oak, cigar-box cedar, and excellent minerality, as well as the wine's long finish. This wine broadens with aeration and will age very well.
We will open up the FORIS Cabernet Franc, Fly Over Red, and Chardonnay to round out the tasting this week.
We will also have a very nice Pouilly Fuisse to start things off.
$5 per person, all proceeds donated to charity. This is the final week for donations to Mountainbrook Comprehensive Academy.

Wine Tasting - Bob Egelhoff, Paul Hobbs and more
Bob Egelhoff is considered to be one of the best wine makers in California and is respected all over the world. He received a 99 (out of 100) on his 97 Cab and routinely receives scores of 90-95. Bob works with 6 wineries in California as the lead wine maker. We are pleased to be presenting his wine this week at our tasting. "Amizetta" Complexity is a superb Meritage: 75% Cab Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. Dark Purple, earthy notes with underlying strawberry and cherry notes. Medium bodied with raspberry and chocolate flavors. Easy tannin structure makes this wine very easy to drink in it's youth. This wine will age gently for many years to come
Paul Hobbs is a world renowned wine maker. From making wine in California and Mendoza with Vina Cobos, he is currently a consultant for wineries in the U.S., Chile and Argentina and has recently added Hungary to the list as his newest challenge. We will be tasting his 2004 Vindelocks Cabernet Savignon from Red Hills, Lake County. This is a killer cab for $20.
The Wine Tasting will also feature a fun Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, Sunshine Bay. Vinified in a lively, fresh, aromatic style, this wine has a clean, fresh approach with a softness of balance that makes it ideal for easy drinking.
